Privacy Policy

Schuss is built for skiers, not advertisers. We collect only what's necessary to power your experience on the mountain, and we never sell your data.

The Short Version

What We Collect

  • Account information you provide at signup (name, email address).
  • GPS location data while you are actively using the app on the mountain. This is required for core features like trail mapping, speed tracking, and friend coordination.
  • Run and session statistics (speed, vertical, distance, lift rides).
  • Device information (model, OS version) for debugging and compatibility.

What We Don't Do

  • We do not sell your personal data. Ever. To anyone.
  • We do not sell your location data.
  • We do not share your data with advertisers.
  • We do not track you when the app is not in active use.
  • We do not build advertising profiles from your activity.

How Your Location Is Used

  • Your real-time location is used to display your position on resort trail maps and to share your location with friends you have explicitly invited to your party.
  • Location sharing is entirely opt-in. You control who sees your position, and you can disable sharing at any time.
  • Location data from completed sessions is stored to generate your run history and statistics. You can delete this data at any time.

Data Sharing with Friends

  • Your location, speed, and activity are only visible to friends you have explicitly added to your party for that session.
  • When you leave a party or end your session, real-time sharing stops immediately.
  • Your historical stats on leaderboards are visible to your friends. You can opt out of leaderboards in settings.

Data Storage & Security

  • Your data is stored on secure, encrypted servers.
  • We retain your run history and statistics for as long as you have an active account.
  • We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit and at rest.

Your Rights

  • You can request a full export of your data at any time by contacting support@schuss.app.
  • You can delete your account and all associated data from Profile → Settings → Delete Account in the app.
  • Account deletion is permanent and cannot be reversed.

Third-Party Services

  • We use essential third-party services for authentication, crash reporting, and infrastructure hosting.
  • We do not use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs that track your behavior across apps.

Changes to This Policy

  • We will notify you of material changes to this privacy policy via email or an in-app notification.
  • Continued use of Schuss after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
